2011 Salon // Rev. Goat Carson - Dreams
June 20th, 2011During a long post-Katrina exile, Goat co-wrote four songs on Dr. John’s new CD “CITY THAT CARE FORGOT,” including title cut, CITY THAT CARE FORGOT, DREAM WARRIOR, SAY WHAT? and MY PEOPLE NEED A SECOND LINE. This album was recently honored with a Grammy as Best Contemporary Blues Album of the year. He also co-wrote with Jude Johnstone the song CRY, CRY, CRY FOR NEW ORLEANS which was made into a music video by David Floeter, to raise public awareness regarding the plight of post-Katrina New Orleans. Cyril & Gaynielle Neville sung on the recording produced by Jude johnstone and Charles Duncan added to by Cyril, Marcia Ball, Papa Mali and others who wanted to contribute to the recording. After an arduous physical and spiritual journey, Reverend Goat returned to New Orleans, where he continues his work of promoting tolerance, feeding the soul, and celebrating life. His latest musical release is as featured performer on “Rising Sun,” with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux.
