Q: What is the fellowship grant?
A: The Positive Vibrations Foundation provides 15 teens a full scholarship for its summer program including attendance at the prestigious Lusher School’s Summer Arts Intensive, housing and Tulane University, as well as the culture and food of New Orleans. Fellows are afforded a number of exciting experiences including musical performances, field trips and the opportunity to form lasting friendships.
Q: What will it cost me and my family?
The foundation finances all tuition, program activities/excursions, local transportation, and room and board at Tulane University for the duration of the program. Applicants and parents/guardians are responsible for a $100.00 application and administrative fee at the time of submitting their application. The fellowship grant covers the costs of tuition, accommodations, meals, and all program related activities. The foundation invests on average $14,000 per fellow to cover the costs of the programming. A substantial portion of this sum goes to cover meals. The foundation requires Parents to share in the cost of the meals by paying a $400 food allotment. Parents are expected to pay for the cost of their teen’s transportation cost to and from New Orleans. Food allotment and travel expenses are to be paid upon acceptance of the fellowship grant.
Q: What is the duration of the program?
A: The program usually runs just under 4 weeks. The dates for the 2012 program are June 2 – June 30, 2012.
Q: What if I am not yet out of school by June 2?
A: The Foundation will work with your school to arrange for early dismissal. Please note applicants who are unable to finish the Summer Arts through Culture Program through June 30 will not be offered a fellowship.
